Ingredients

  • 4 chicken thighs bone-in and skin-on
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce ensure it’s your preferred type
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  • Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes while you prepare the sauce.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Set aside the mixture.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the chicken thighs skin-side down in the hot pan. Cook for about 6-7 minutes until the skin is golden brown and crispy. Flip and cook the other side for 4-5 minutes.
  • Pour the honey garlic sauce over the chicken thighs. Reduce heat to medium-low and let the sauce bubble and thicken, spooning it over the chicken as it cooks. Cook for 5-7 minutes or until chicken is cooked through (165°F / 74°C internal temperature).
  • Remove the chicken from the pan and transfer to a serving plate. Spoon the remaining sauce over the top and garnish with chopped green onions. Serve immediately.

Equipment

  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Grater or microplane
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Tongs or spatula
  • Serving plate

Notes

  • Patting the chicken dry is essential for crispy skin.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken is cooked to 165°F (74°C).
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated up to 3 days or frozen without sauce for 2 months.
  • Customize the sauce by adding lime juice, red pepper flakes, or fresh herbs.
  • Boneless thighs can be used; adjust cooking time accordingly.
