  • 1/2 cup heavy cream warmed
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt to taste

  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and allow the mixture to come to a boil without stirring.
  • Continue to cook until the mixture turns a deep amber color, about 8-10 minutes, then remove from heat.
  • Carefully add the softened butter, stirring until completely melted and incorporated.
  • Gradually pour in the warm heavy cream while whisking continuously until smooth. Add vanilla extract and sea salt to taste.
  • Allow the caramel sauce to cool slightly before transferring it to a glass jar or container to cool completely.

  • Medium Saucepan
  • Wooden spoon or heat-resistant spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Whisk
  • Glass jar or container

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
  • To reheat, microwave in short bursts or warm gently on the stovetop.
  • If the sauce thickens too much, add a splash of water or cream to loosen it up.
