In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
Remove from oven and let cookies cool on the baking sheets for 2 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
