Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef 15-20% fat content
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce iceberg or romaine
  • 1/2 cup diced tomato ripe

Special Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon pickle relish

Instructions

Special Sauce Preparation

  • In a small bowl, combine ½ cup mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons mustard, 1 tablespoon ketchup, and 1 tablespoon pickle relish. Stir until smooth and well mixed. Set aside to let the flavors meld.

Cooking the Beef

  • Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 pound of ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, salt, and pepper to taste over the beef. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.

Warming Tortillas

  • While the beef cooks, warm the 4 large flour tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave for a few seconds until soft and pliable.

Assembling the Wraps

  • Lay each tortilla flat and spread a generous spoonful of the special sauce in the center. Top with a quarter of the cooked beef, then sprinkle with ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese. Add shredded lettuce and diced tomato to each wrap.

Finishing Touches

  • Fold the sides of each tortilla over the filling and then roll it up tightly from the bottom. Serve immediately while warm and melty. These wraps pair wonderfully with a side of crispy fries or a fresh salad.

Equipment

  • Non-stick skillet or frying pan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Cheese grater
  • Cutting board & knife
  • Spatula

Notes

  • Use ground beef with 15-20% fat for juicy, flavorful meat.
  • Warm tortillas briefly to prevent cracking when folding.
  • Make the special sauce up to 3 days ahead to enhance flavor.
  • Try adding avocado or spicy cheese for tasty variations.
  • Store leftovers wrapped tightly in foil and refrigerate up to 2 days.
