Ingredients

For the Cake Layer:

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1/2 cup melted butter for cake layer
  • 1 large egg

For the Cream Cheese Filling:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup melted butter for filling
  • 3 large eggs for filling
  • 16 ounces confectioners' sugar
  • 15 pieces Double Stuff Oreo Cookies coarsely crumbled
  • as needed whipped cream and Oreos for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Instructions:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing some overhang for easy removal later.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the box chocolate cake mix, 1/2 cup of melted butter, and 1 large egg. Mix until well combined. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking pan using a spatula.
  • In another bowl, beat the 8 ounces of cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth. Gradually add in 1/2 cup of melted butter, 3 large eggs, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 16 ounces of confectioners' sugar. Beat until light and fluffy.
  • Gently fold in the coarsely crumbled Double Stuff Oreo Cookies into the cream cheese filling.
  • Pour the cream cheese filling over the chocolate cake layer in the baking pan, spreading it evenly with your spatula. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the edges are set, and the center is still slightly jiggly.
  • Once baked, let it cool completely on a wire rack. For the best results, refrigerate for a few hours before slicing into squares. Garnish with whipped cream and additional Oreo cookies if desired.
